What's new for TaxWise Online 2017

The new changes in TaxWise Online, listed in this section, are designed to help you improve the speed and accuracy with which you deliver your final product to the customer.

Integration with CCH iFirm Client Portal

CCH iFirm Client Portal is now integrated with your 2017 TaxWise Online professional tax software. Opt for a smarter way to share documents with your clients, while eliminating file sharing via e-mail or other less secure methods.

Tax Help

TaxWise Online has added integration with CCH® IntelliConnect® or CCH® AnswerConnect to allow you easy access to valuable resources in preparing returns. The new Tax Help menu (accessed by clicking your name in the header) allows you access to the Master Tax Guide, IRS Publications, Practice Aids, Line Explanations, and courses where you can receive CPE credits through CPELink. The content available to you varies based on the tax package you purchased. Click the Upgrade My Tax Help menu item to learn more about purchasing additional content.

Form 1040 and Schedule A is currently integrated with the Tax Prep Line Level Help feature. To access, simply expand the smart bar on the field by clicking the gray arrow and choose Tax Prep Line Level Help to view related content in your web browser.

Carry Forward Return Templates

TaxWise Online now supports the ability to carry forward your prior year return templates.

Dashboard - Getting Started widget

A Getting Started widget has been added to the dashboard to provide quick and convenient access to the most commonly used application functions. You can now start a new return, open a return, check return status and print accepted returns directly from the dashboard without viewing all returns from return grids.

Vault

TaxWise Online now provides a secure, fast way to capture and store the documents and files associated to return preparation. Customers can use most built-in cameras (or purchase a USB camera from any retailer) to snap pictures of any document presented to the preparer.

Customers can also upload files provided electronically (PDF’s, pictures, documents).

The files are stored securely alongside the return (in the forms tree), and can be found and managed from within the tax return.

TaxWise Online Interview

Support User Role

If your TaxWise Online office has sub-offices, you can assign the Support role to users giving them access to the Login As feature. Users with this role will be able to log in to the sub-offices without having to log out of the Main Office's site of TaxWise Online.

Customized Dashboard (Only available to Service Bureaus)

The customized dashboard is only available to Service Bureaus for co-branding. This allows you to configure the dashboard page of TaxWise Online to align with your business practices.

Dashboard - Help & References widget

The Help & References widget has been removed from the dashboard. The help links that were located in this widget have been moved to the header (top right corner) to provide help availability from anywhere within TaxWise Online.

Conversions

Conversions have been updated to work with TaxWise Online 2016. Once you convert your returns, you have the ability to upload the zip file on the Support site and import to TaxWise Online 2016. This will allow you to carry forward prior year data into your returns for TaxWise Online 2017. See the help on the Support Site for more information.

TaxWise Online Training

The TaxWise Online training site has been updated to support the 2017 tax year. Return Templates, set up in the production application will be available in the training environment. You may also set up return template in training, however they will not publish to production. Your user and role settings can be managed from either environment.
